4th International Conference on Watershed Management and Urban Water Supply

Protecting the water environment is one of the most important and pressing issues that demands great attention in light of the ever-increasing urban development in all parts of the world. In China, rapid urban growth in many areas, such as Shenzhen, has put heavy strain on the water and ecological environment. The 4th International Conference on Watershed Management will be held December 13-15, 2004 in Shenzhen, China and will address these pressing issues.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together professionals from both China and the U.S. together to discuss urban watershed management strategies; water treatment technologies, in addition to institutional/organizational issues that are important in achieving a sustainable utilization of urban water resources. Highlights of this three-day conference will include technical sessions and discussions, field trips and an international cooperation session. Organized by the University of Virginia and Tsinghua University in China, this conference is supported by the American Society of Civil Engineers in addition to several other U.S. and international organizations.
