Border International Water Quality
Standards Committee (BIWQ SC)
Purpose
To develop international border water quality control standards.
Mission
The Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) created the Border International Water Quality Standards Committee (BIWQ) for the purpose of developing standard agreements and water quality standards for transboundary water resources. The committee has published EWRI/ASCE Standard 33-01, Comprehensive Transboundary International Water Quality Management Agreement. The committee is currently in the process of revising this standard to incorporate new information and include additional commentary.
